Lake Charlevoix Salmon and Steelhead Runs

2 tributaries on this map, 27.2 miles of run water, across Michigan. Lake Charlevoix is not a Great Lake — it is an arm of Lake Michigan, and its fish are Lake Michigan fish that crossed it to get here. 2 rivers have something inside a window as of 1 October 2026.

Lake Charlevoix is not a Great Lake but an arm of Lake Michigan, reached through the Pine River channel at Charlevoix. Its fish are Lake Michigan fish that have crossed a lake to get here, which is why the Jordan takes them weeks before the harbour rivers do. Two Michigan rivers on this map run fish out of it, 27.2 miles of corridor between them: the Jordan River at 23.2 miles with no ceiling, and the Boyne River at 4.0 miles, ceilinged on the Boyne itself.

Both rivers carry the same four species. Chinook run on windows of Aug–Oct and Aug–Sept, coho on Sept–Nov and Sept–Oct, and lake-run brown trout on Oct–Nov and Sept–Nov, the two rivers differing by a few weeks at each end. Steelhead hold the widest window on both, October through May. For a water this small, that is a long calendar — one or another of the four is in season somewhere on these 27.2 miles from late summer to spring.

The run calendar across Lake Charlevoix

One row per species, one cell per month, and the number in a cell is how many of these rivers have that species inside its window that month. Two densities rather than a gradient: the source is month-grained curated guidance and a smooth ramp would claim a precision it does not have.
