From the junction of Evans Road and County Road 600 (F32) in the town of McKinley, take F32 east and immediately right on Reed Road. Proceed on Reed Road east to Forest Road 4061 and stay on it till it splits with Forest Road 4836. Take Forest Road 4836 to sign labeled "Buttercup" campground and river access, drive into campground and access site. A small walk to the river awaits, but the river is beautiful. It is approximately 125 feet wide with a sand, gravel, and cobble bottom.
It is approximately 125 feet wide with a sand, gravel, and cobble bottom. Wading water is available, and anglers should use caution. Good presentations to use are dry flies, nymphs, spinners and crankbaits. Parking is available for multiple vehicles. There is canoe camping available here, and is one of the more scenic and remote reaches of river. Perfect for small group camping. This is U.S. Forest Service property, thus federal laws and apply.
